Anniversary wrap-up

We had some friends over. Cake.

And decorations:
Paper hearts declaring our true love,
the longevity of our relationship,
our dislike of falling in holes,
and of course...our tender feelings for seashells.

Here's to ten more years of randomness and love.

8 Things Meme

8 Things You Didn't Know about Me.

The Rules: When tagged, you must list the person who tagged you, post the rules and list 8 people at the end of the post.

I was tagged by the Muum. And to break up the monotony, I'm going to use a Thanksgiving theme. Because really, if you want to know me, there's not much new to say.
  1. I really enjoy colored pens and other office supplies. I like buying them. And using them. All different kinds of office supplies. I can spend a long time browsing at Staples. Colored ballpoint pens are my favorites, though.
  • Speaking of which, Elfyourself is back up. But that's not about me. Sorry.
  1. I did this one already.
  2. I just realized last week that singers Timbaland and Timberlake are entirely different people.
  3. Also, I bought Pokemon cards for the first time last week. This is, clearly, a business I need to get into because people, THEY ARE RAKING IT IN.
  4. I am, quite frankly, the coolest mom, evah.
  5. I accomplish this by letting my children eat leftover dessert for breakfast a couple times a year, while I sleep in. Pie for breakfast!
  6. I have (apparently) a zany sense of humor. Whatever.
  7. Yes, the cleanup is worth the sleeping in.
  8. I'm an oldest child. I married a middle child. Yes, I do get my way most of the time. No, I don't think it's unfair. I do, however, wonder how youngest children who marry youngest children ever get anything done.
I don't know 8 people to tag. If you comment, and haven't done this meme in the last two months, consider yourself tagged. The madness ends here.

Ten Years, Ten Songs

  1. Barenaked Ladies: If I Had a Million Dollars
I would spend it like this.
  2. Plain White Ts: Hey There Delilah
  3. U2: With or Without You
On our honeymoon in a snowy cabin in the woods, we had two CDs. This was one of them, and it always reminds me of that.
  4. Elton John: We All Fall in Love Sometimes
  5. Kelly Clarkson: Miss Independent
Before I met you, I was Miss Independent. Thanks for making sure I didn't miss out.
  6. Dave Matthews Band: Crash Into Me
  7. Fat Boy Slim: Praise You
    Yes, I do have to.
  8. Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: Face Down
Our oldest asked me about this song today. Thank you for being the type of father you are. She was totally mystified by the idea of a man hitting a woman.
  9. Tonic: If You Could Only See
I don't know if I've told you this before, but when we announced our engagement, two old boyfriends wrote me and asked me not to marry you. I thought of this song. If they could see the way you love me, and how blue your eyes are...maybe they would understand.
  10. Paul Stookey: Wedding Song
That's what it's about, right? Love.

What models are thinking, part 2

I hate you, so let's get married

You like it. You like my not-there-cleavage, my cannon-hole sleeve and my burlap hat. YOU LOVE IT.

We are the queens of the burlap hat scene.

Batmodel!

Napkin shoes. Yes.

What?! What are they saying? Tube? Oh, CUBE!
Spangled, fringed dress with a cube!

Anniversary gifts!

So, the blond hunk has been legally mine (and I, his) for a whopping TEN YEARS in a few days.
There will be more schlocky reminiscences and loving tributes later in the week, I'm thinking.

To celebrate, there will be a short trip. And gifts. My gifts to him are not as exciting as his gifts to me.

First, what we will be TELLING PEOPLE I got for our anniversary.

Nice, hm? And it seems like the sort of thing you get for an anniversary.

But really, I'm getting this.

Not impressed? That's because you don't know the SECRET!

Geek chic, people.

That's a compact full of SD cards (with little rhinestone sticker idents) and a lipstick memory stick. I know. I'm so lucky.

While he was taking things apart, he also made himself a new memory car. Solar powered, yo.

Because that's how we roll.

What models are thinking...part 1

Through new scientific advances, we can now hear what models are actually thinking as they take that walk down the catwalk.

Let's listen!

The stylists made me cry.

I feel like I forgot something...

Did I put this on right?

No, I'm not Asian. Wanna make something of it?

Help. Please. My eyes are being held open by these moths.

Steampunk prosti-what?

What do you mean 'been done'?

Back model: My ruffles are rufflier than your ruffles.
Front model: Talk to the hat.

It's a proud, proud day.

Former president Clinton came to Utah, campaigning for his wife.

Apparently right after a bar crawl or visiting the worst spray-on tan place ever.
