Food again!

Co-op Pickup Day!!!
1 lb lean ground beef
1 lb Pacific cod fillets
2 lb. chicken thighs
4 (5 oz) pork chops
3 peaches
4 pears
4 apples
2 tomatoes
1 head romaine lettuce
5 lbs potatoes
1 bunch of radishes
1 lb brown rice
Whole wheat bread
2 sourdough bread
4 lbs cooked chicken nuggets
2 loaves sourdough bread

Total: $33.50

The picture above is after we took all the meat and 2 of the bread loaves to the freezer and the children and I ate all the peaches and one pear (and a radish, but that didn't go over quite as well). Still, looks pretty, doesn't it?

In October, there will be sirloin beef tips, bacon, locally made blackberry jam, German rye bread and Colosimo's Italian sausage. The fruits and veggies aren't announced until the week before you pick up, but I bet there will be squash!

Again, it's the Utah Food Co-op--what a great way to eat healthier, support your community and help others!

P.S. Don't live in Northern Utah? Don't worry--there are probably co-ops where you live, too! Check out: http://www.coopdirectory.org/directory.htm

Autumn

So, things are better today. The horses were all up on all fours, for one thing. Also, last night I made myself some butternut squash soup and baked potato soup. Very tasty stuff.

It's autumn here, for sure. The leaves are turning on the mountains, and we've had a few cold nights. I love fall. Love it. I'm really looking forward to getting one of these autumn planters from my Muum. We're having a craft day in a few weeks, too. And the blond hunk is going to run a long, long way next weekend. All fun things.

I might go buy boots for myself if my paycheck comes and is good. I don't share Sassy's Love of All Things Shoe, but I do love boots. I will report if there is a purchase.

Dinner Fairy!

Have you heard about the Dinner Fairy? No, not the pizza delivery guy. The Dinner Fairy!

Go, read it. I'll wait.

See? Still here.

And I have a secret. My Dinner Freezer lives in my freezer! Alright, I'm the dinner fairy, too. And I stock my freezer once a month or so. But it feels like a dinner fairy when I open up the big white door and....MAGIC! Dinner! So I'm going to send my recipes to the dinner fairy site for others to enjoy. You should, too!

This little sweetheart (the Freezer Fairy) was made using The Flower Fairy Dollmaker, but my girls prefer this one. Quite inspirational, isn't she?

Freezer Fairy Recipes:
Teriyaki Chicken
Cheesy Potatoes with Ham
Shepherd's Pie
Orange Glazed Chicken and Parmesan Chicken (2 recipes, 1 post)

Tomorrow, maybe I'll bring out the Slow-cooker Fairy! She's hot stuff!

When I worked in college, my boss had a sign on his door. It said:
Good, Fast, Cheap.
Choose Two.

So if you have a dinner recipe that is at least two of those, Send it to the Dinner Fairy! I wanna see! I'll try it! Even if it has brussel sprouts! Expect to see recipes posted soon!
